Carolina PALS Miles For Smiles Funride 1998

Carolina P.A.L.S. is a student organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our program has many purposes, all of which foster trusting friendships with children at UNC Hospitals with chronic illnesses. We are holding our 3rd annual "Miles for Smiles Funride and Bike Safety Rodeo" on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998 RAIN OR SHINE at the New Town Commons in Carrboro, NC (adjacent to the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. Registration is from 1:30-3:00 and the ride, which is 9.2 miles, will run from 3:00-4:00. The proceeds from registration will serve to cover the cost of the event and to fund future activities for the patients such as circus trips, picnics, and horseback rides. Each registrant will receive a t-shirt and eligibility for the raffle which will take place immediately following the ride and will include prizes donated by local merchants. The ride will include entertainment and a special appearance by Ramses the Tarheel mascot. We expect 200-400 participants which will include patients, families, college students, and local biking enthusiasts. The ride is a community and family-oriented event for all ages. The primary sponsor of the ride is the Educational Foundation, Inc. Please come out and bring your bike, some friends, and a smile!
