GRITS Ride Summary - February 22th

5 teams braved chilly weather: Sarah and Gary, Doug and Robin Bradley. Andy Stewart and Emily, Chet Buell and Cyndy Van Der Wiele, Smith Doss and Claude Monnier, plus Chaz Walker on his half-bike.  They should be commended for their effort since 4 individuals rode a century the day before: Doug Bradley, Gary - who rode the brand new frostbite century, Smith and Claude who rode the Bunn Adventure with an unusually tame group of Road Dogs.

We all opted for an altered version of the short RTP route, which took us on some nice downhills near Smith and Claude’s house. The theme was: Claude’s 3 favorite downhills within a 10 mile radius. Despite Cyndy’s attempts to get Chet and others worked up, we all kept it to an easy recovery ride, and chit chatted along the way.  Were there any contests for any sprint?  Yes, for the Durham City limit sign where Chet was wondering why Smith was rushing so hard towards a red light.  Were there counter attacks? No, after all, Andy’s theory of training is that if you peak in April you will be fatigued in August, so he is still hibernating for now.

The quote of the day - uttered by kids playing outside when we came back - “Wow! Cool! A double headed bicycle!”.
